The arts facilitate a holistic approach in which children learn different concepts as a natural consequence of the activities.
The Creative Arts play a very important role in the education and well-being of the students at Jack Tizard School. Our excellent arts provision facilitates a holistic approach which aims to provide opportunities for every student to explore, express and communicate their feelings whilst gaining experiences of the wider world. Through these experiences we see our students learning different concepts as a natural consequence of the activities, as well as developing their self-esteem, self- confidence and independence.
We have a range of specialists in art, music and dance who contribute to the high quality experiences that our students enjoy. These include regular art and dance lessons, as well as the opportunity to take part in the school’s ‘Sing and Sign’ Choir. We also have an exciting programme of visiting artists and performers who deliver specialist arts education opportunities and experiences.
We are currently working towards Artsmark Gold status, an award given by the Arts Council of England that recognises schools’ dedication to high quality arts provision. We also deliver the Arts Award, a programme of study that enables students to achieve a certificate of achievement for their participation in high quality arts activities.
